Graveside services for Rob Mellott of Pleasant View, Colo. will be held on Monday, November 30 at Dove Creek Cemetery. Rob was born October 20, 1946 at Mercy Hospital in Durango, Colo. to Nathan and Mary Mellott.
Rob attended Dove Creek schools graduating in 1963. He attended college in Rangely, Colo. on a baseball scholarship, later transferring to Fort Lewis College earning a degree in education. Rob’s teaching career began in 1969 in Dove Creek. After teaching for two years, he joined the US Air Force where he served four years. Rob taught math and coached basketball for a total of 43 years, where he was admired and loved by his students, athletes and colleagues.
Surviving Rob are his wife, Carol; children, Tamara (Rich) Shafer, Jon Sanders, Heather (Derek) Lee; sister, Mary Ann Mellott; newphews, Brandon (Alex Stump) Baker, Nathan (Shay) Mellott; and nieces, Joni Hall, Juli Kirby and Jaci Mellott. Rob and Carol shared grandchildren, Maddie, Taci, Taegan, Chandler, Parker, Nikolas, and Cienna; and great-grandson, Ryatt. Rob was welcomed home by his parents, Nathan and Mary; his brothers, Johnny, Darrel, and Dewayne; and his special “sidekick” son, Rusty.
