ROBERT MAX LOWRIE Robert “Max” Lowrie of Mancos passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at Southwest Memorial Hospital in Cortez at the age of 76. Max was born June 19, 1930 in Amarillo, Tex., the son of John Judson and Alice Florene (Reeves) Lowrie. Private family services will be held with a public memorial at a later daate. Max served as a paratrooper in the Army prior to the Korean War for eight months, and then was a Medic in Korea for the remainder of his military service. He worked as a carpenter and enjoyed carving wood toys and animals for pleasure. Other employment included working as a security guard in both the private and public sector. After moving to Mancos, Max was an active member of Mancos VFW Post #5231. Max married Beulah “Bea” May Gouge October 25, 1953 in Milton-Freewater, Ore., and they enjoyed 53 years together living in many different locales, since they loved to move and see different parts of the country. Max is survived by his wife Bea of Mancos; son Leroy Lowrie and wife Kathy of Amarillo, Tex.; daughter Linda Muscato and husband Nick of Moxee, Wash.; son Al Lowrie and wife Susan of Durango, Colo.; and son Earl Lowrie and wife Debbie of Cameron, Wisc. A brother, Leroy Lowrie, and his wife Donna of Milton-Freewater, Ore. also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters Freda Helquist and Bernice Royce. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Max Lowrie with the Valley Inn Nursing Home or the Parkinson's Disease Association.
