ROBERT LEROY JOHNSON Funeral services for lifelong Cortez resident Robert Leroy Johnson will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 12 at the General Assembly and Church of the First Born. Burial will follow at Lewis Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Ute Mountain American Legion Post #75. Bob was born July 2, 1936 in Dove Creek the son of Clarence "Chub" and Dolores Estelle (Coen) Johnson. He passed away on June 9, 2012 at his home at the age of 75. On June 26, 1982 Bob married Charlotte Todd in Cortez enjoying nearly 30 years together. Bob proudly served as a captain in the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion. For many years, Bob played the saxophone in several bands all over the state. He was a hard worker but he always made time for his grandchildren. Surviving Bob are his wife, Charlotte Johnson of Cortez, his children, Lori Johnson of Canada, Robert "Bear" L. Johnson Jr. of Cortez, Victor Sundquist and wife, Jenny of Olathe, Colo. and Lori Sundquist of Cortez; his eight grandchildren, Sarah, Victor T., Lena Maryann, David, Nathan, Owen Sundquist, Chase Herwick, and Cutter Higgins; and his brother Duane Johnson of Chico, Cali. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Dolores Johnson; and his brother, Bill Johnson.
