ROBERT LEROY "BOB" MEYERS Memorial services for Robert LeRoy "Bob" Meyers will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 28 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Military honors will be provided by Ute Mountain American Legion Post #75. Bob was born the son of Isadore William and Minnie Ottilie (Goeglein) Meyers on February 4, 1920 in Clyde, Colo. He passed away at Vista Grande Inn on Friday, September 27, 2013 at the age of 93. On April 21, 1938 in Colorado Springs, Colo. Bob married the love of his life, Mary Elizabeth Sage, and they celebrated 75 years of marriage this year. Bob proudly served his country as a Marine during World War II. He was a mucker operator and according to him he was the best mucker operator there ever was. Bob worked on water diversion tunnels and had the privilege of working on the Eisenhower Tunnel. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local Union Number 9. Since he worked in Greenland above the Arctic Circle, Bob became a member of the Blue Nose Society. Bob enjoyed walking and would use a walking stick which he referred to as his horse. He was the instigator of many water fights. Bob loved to travel, go for drives in the mountains, camp and go on picnics. He always wanted to go to "Camp" as this was where he was born and raised and it held special meaning to him. Bob is survived by his wife, Mary Meyers of Cortez; his sons, Robert I. Meyers and wife, Alice of Ellinwood, Kans. and Jerry L. Meyers and wife, Linda of Craig, Colo; his daughter, Charmane Graham and husband, Robert of Dolores, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Isadore and Minnie Meyers; his infant son, Kenneth Edward Meyers; and his siblings, Alva Meyers, Elsie Knight, Myrtle McWilliams, Arthur Meyers, Leslie Meyers, Glenora Hobden, Kenneth Meyers, Barbara Brown, and Helen Myers.
