Robert Eugene Mathis

ROBERT EUGENE MATHIS Robert Eugene Mathis passed away at his home in Mancos on Friday, February 22, 2013 at the age of 73. He was born the son of James and Clara (Engle) Mathis on September 6, 1939 in Port Angeles, Wash. Bob married Ruth Mary Vercimak on April 5, 1969 in Seattle, Wash. Bob was a Master Carpenter and loved to create craft items. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. He was a kind, caring, and loving person. Bob will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Surviving Bob are his wife, Ruth Mathis of Mancos; his son, Terry Mathis and wife, Marley of Washington; his daughter, Theresa Hoppe and husband, Travis of Texas; his step-children, R. Michael Owens of Washington, and Lora Hogan and husband, Steve of Mancos; and ten grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Donald Mathis; and sisters, Joanne Evans, Barbara Boston, and Mardean Alesso. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, James and Clara Mathis; step-son, Don Charles Owens; a grandchild; his brothers, James A. Mathis, Frank Mathis, and Delano Mathis; and sisters, Bessie, and Velvadean Engle. Cremation has taken place and no services have been planned at this time.
