Robert Joseph "Bob" DeWeese

A memorial service will be held for Robert (Bob) Joseph DeWeese on July 13th at 11:30 at the Cortez Elks Lodge.

 Bob was born on September 2, 1945 in Valentine, Nebraska to Gene and Bonnie DeWeese. He passed away on June 2, 2024 at his home in Dolores, Colorado at the age of 78. 

 Bob was raised in Cody and Sidney, Nebraska before moving to Denver, Colorado where he met Mary, his wife of 51 years. In 1979, Bob and Mary settled in Dolores where they raised their three sons and have lived in the same house ever since. He was a hardworking truck driver and diesel mechanic. He loved the outdoors and taught his sons how to fish, hunt, and fix anything; he always made time to get them outside. He coached multiple sports, but most important to him was wrestling, where he had a positive influence on many young boys' lives. After retiring, he spent his time with Mary riding their side by side and exploring much of the Southwest.  

 Bob will be remembered for his playful and resolute spirit.  He rarely met an object or machine he could not mend or forge from scraps.  He may have never seen a road or trail too challenging.   Scarcely would he miss an opportunity to jest - often with words, but just as effectively delivered by his often smiling eyes.  Bob lived a complete and loving life, and had great fun doing it.  

 Surviving Bob are his wife, Mary, sons Jason of Durango, Colorado and Brant of Commerce City, Colorado, daughter Tammy Ibarra (Joe) of Torrington, Wyoming, by his brother, Smokey DeWeese (Terri) of Holyoke Colorado, his grandchildren, Jackie, Justine, Jayson, Jade, Felicity, Teagan, Tristen, Samantha and six great grandchildren.

 Preceding Bob in death are his parents, Gene and Bonnie DeWeese, his brother Wayne DeWeese, and son Trevor DeWeese.
