RICHARD WENZEL “DICK” BECHER Funeral Mass for Richard Wenzel “Dick” Becher, a lifelong Cortez resident, will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 20 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Cremation will follow the Mass. Dick was born on February 26, 1918 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of John Richard and Emma (Koehn) Becher. He passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at his residence at the age of 89. On August 23, 1945, Dick married Catherine Elizabeth Johnson at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Cortez. Dick and Elizabeth shared 61 years of marriage. Dick was a wonderful dad that loved spending time with his family. He also liked being outdoors, fishing and hunting were two activities that Dick enjoyed. Surviving Dick are his loving wife, Elizabeth Becher of Cortez; and his children, Katherine Schild and husband, William of Morrison, Colo., Patricia Dillaway of Las Cruces, N.M., Dixie Bradley of Eugene, Ore., Rick Becher and wife, Mindy of Dolores, Carol Pottorff and husband, Dennis of Yellow Jacket, and Barbara Roberts and husband, Kim of Grand Junction, Colo. He also leaves behind his siblings, Beluah Vanderpool, Marie Carlson, Marjie Welch, Elvin Becher, and Juanita Fredriksen; nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Dick was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Daniel Dillaway; and his siblings, Bob Becher, Rupert Becher, Ruth Omo, Jim Becher, Tom Becher, and Lucille Howard.
