RICHARD S. LUHMAN Richard S. Luhman, 62, died Friday, March 4, 2005 in Cortez, Colorado. Born September 6, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois to Marion Lorna Quirk Luhman and Werner Scott Luhman, Rich was a practicing attorney in Cortez. He earned his B.S. at Northwestern University and his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Illinois Law School in 1967. After beginning the practice of law in Chicago, Rich moved to Telluride in 1975, then to Cortez in 1988, where he joined the law firm of Dyer & Dilts before starting his own practice in 1993. He was a member of the Montezuma County Bar Association and the Colorado Bar Association, Rotary International and the Elks Club. He also was a member of the Board of Directors of the Piñon Project and of the Four Corners Child Advocacy Center. Rich is survived by his wife and dearest friend, Joan Sorenson Luhman of Cortez; parents Werner and Marion Luhman of Tucson; brother Donald Luhman and wife Bonnie of Maple Grove, Minnesota; sister Marcia Luhman of Tucson; niece Heather Ann Hart and husband Brian, and nephews Carl Robert Luhman, Joshua Abraham Pechter, and Matthew Scott Pechter. A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Cortez, 515 N. Park, Wednesday, March 9 at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Southwest Memorial Hospital Foundation, P. O. Drawer L, Cortez CO 81321, or the Four Corners Child Advocacy Center 140 N. Linden, Cortez CO 81321.
