RICHARD MARVIN LEONARD Funeral services for Richard Marvin Leonard a lifelong resident of Cortez will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 18 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Sylvan Cemetery. Elder Les Pfister of the Church of The First Born will officiate. Richard was born on February 9, 1912, to Curnel Ceemore Leonard and Frances Rebekah (Rossiter) Leonard in Delta, Colo. He passed away July 11, 2009 in Cortez at the age of 97 leaving his loved ones to sorrow. He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory three sons, Gary Leonard of Cortez, Bob Leonard of Reno, Nevada, Norman Leonard and wife, Charlotte of Canon City, Colo.; and two daughters, Janet Trepanier of Cortez, and Neva Stacey and husband, Howard of Fallon, Nev. Richard leaves five grandchildren, Lisa Forsythe and husband, Shawn, Amber Riley and husband, David, Rob Leonard, Dulcie Partida, and Porter Trepanier and wife, Jessica. He also leaves eleven great grandchildren, Tyler Kuretich, Preston Kuretich, Olivia, Laurynn and Gabriella Riley, Tiffany Leonard, Kimberly, Joanna, Kathryn and Fernando Partida and Alice Trepanier. He also leaves many other loved ones and friends. Richard was married to Hazel Norine Pharo on April 30, 1938 in Montezuma County, Colo. She preceded him in death on the 18th of November, 1997. He was baptized into the Church of the Firstborn by Elder Len Rossiter, his uncle. Richard worked for five years for Conoco and 20 years for Texaco as a truck driver. Richard’s family came to Montezuma County in a wagon and he lived to see men walk on the moon and the space age. He lived a wonderful life. Donations can be made in Richard’s name at Citizens State Bank of Cortez in lieu of flowers.
