Richard Lex Greenlee of Dolores, age 73, passed away October 3, 2017. Richard was born October 9, 1943, the third of 8 children, to Wilbur Red and Jo Greenlee. He married Joyce Tibbits in 1968 and together they had two daughters, Kelly Morrell (Mike) and Betty Jo McMullen (John), both of Rawlins, WY. Beginning at a young age, Rich worked many jobs throughout the area and retired in 1999 from Mesa Verde National Park after 36 years. He assisted with firefighting logistics for a couple of years after retirement. Outside of work, Rich enjoyed a western lifestyle - from riding bulls as a young man, team roping, pony express racing, and cattle ranching. After retirement, he spent his time gardening, enjoying his grandkids, and swapping lies with friends at the Ute Caf. In addition to his wife, daughters, and sons-in-law; he is survived by a brother, Lynn (Elaine) of Canon City; sisters, Glenna, Dorothy Jo and Leah of Cortez, Delora Dixon (Gary) of Ft. Collins; an aunt, Catherine Lichliter of Cortez; grandchildren, Gage, Taner, Baley McMullen, Taya and Kaelyn Morrell; and numerous other family members. Rich was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Ed and Larry. No service will be held. A celebration of his life is being planned for a later date.
