RICHARD LEE “DICK” DEVORE Memorial services for longtime Cortez resident Richard Lee “Dick” DeVore will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 30 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Dick was born on February 11, 1933 in Garnett, Kans. the son of Harry and Fern (Allison) DeVore. He passed away on Monday, December 27, 2010 at his residence at the age of 77. On July 29, 1978, Dick married Cammy Mae Riley in Cortez. Dick was a member of the Cortez Church of Christ. He worked many years with the Colorado State Patrol, retiring as a dispatcher. Dick loved music, he especially enjoyed playing Honky-Tonk piano. He also found great joy in riding his bike. Dick was a short story author and recently had a book published. Surviving Dick are his wife of 32 years, Cammy DeVore of Cortez; and his children, Susan Klassen and husband, Al of Franktown, Colo., Gary DeVore of Ashville, N.C., Robin Chavez and husband, Chris of Cortez, and Theresa Skinner and husband, Kelly of Grand Junction, Colo., and Dean DeVore. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Renata Muniz, Jungle Cooper, and Emma Chavez; his great-grandchildren, Reignen Graham and Sean Grider; his sister, Marian DeVore of Daytona, Fla.; his niece, Nita Manis and husband, Mike of Ormond Beach, Fla.; and his great-nephew, Jesse Manis. Dick was preceded in death by his parents.
