RICHARD GEORGE SANCHEZ Memorial services for longtime Mancos resident Richard George Sanchez will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 31 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Father Pat Valdez will be officiating. Richard was born in Longmont, Colo. on August 28, 1939 to Benerito and Estella (Montoya) Sanchez. He passed away on October 24, 2011 at Mercy Regional Medical Center at the age of 72. Richard was a truck driver with many local firms. He was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church and the American Legion Post #75. In his spare time, Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He has many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren that he loved dearly. Surviving Richard are his children, Linda K. Sanchez of Mancos, Gloria J. Gonzales of Johnstown, Colo., Richard F. Sanchez of Longmont, Colo., Ruth I. Soto of Lochbuie, Colo., Mary Ellen Sanchez of Evans, Colo., Carol C. Sanchez of Longmont, Colo., Rhonda Hatfield and husband, Paul, Karen Sanchez, Tracy Sanchez, and Christopher R. Sanchez and wife, Chelsey, all of Cortez; his step-children, Max J. Montoya and wife, Sherry of Dolores, Molly A. Robson of Cortez, Michael W. Dunn and wife, Hilda Hernandez of Cherry Creek, Colo., Tracie Garber and husband, Brian of Highlands Ranch, Colo., and Gina Abeln and husband, Damon of Cortez; 46 grandchildren, 94 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; and his siblings, Gilbert W. Sanchez, Mary E. Gurule and husband, Philip, both of Cortez, and John B. Sanchez of Spokane, Wash. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Benerito Sanchez and Estella Sanchez.
