Rich Weatherly

JOHN RICHARD "RICH" WEATHERLY John Richard "Rich" Weatherly was born June 5, 1931 in Silt, Colo. the son of Guy Elroy and Ezma Annona (Terrell) Weatherly. He passed away at his Cortez home on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at the age of 77. Rich was a loving husband, father, granddad, brother and the favorite uncle to all of his nieces and nephews. He was a caring and gentle man taking the greatest of pleasure in the raising of his grandson Alex who came to live with Rich and Barbara at the age of 3 months. Rich's personality and great humor made him a friend to all he met. A lover of life, Rich was always ready for the next adventure whether it be fishing, hunting, prospecting or antiquing. He proudly served his country during the Korean War in the Army Air Force. Surviving Rich are his wife of 28 years, Barbara Weatherly of Cortez; his daughter, Katie Weatherly also of Cortez; his son, Scott Weatherly of Dolores; grandson, Alex Martinez of Cortez; and daughter-in-law, Carla Weatherly of Cortez. Also surviving Rich are his brothers, Bill Weatherly and wife, Tinnie of Kirkland, Ariz., Ed Weatherly and wife, Darlene of Prescott, Ariz., and Kay Weatherly and wife, Dolores of Grand Junction, Colo.; and his sister, Eileen Lutz and husband, Terry of Guffey, Colo. Preceding Rich in death were his son, Warren Weatherly; his parents, Guy and Ezma Weatherly; and a sister, Edith Weatherly. Rich's family and friends will forever miss him. Memorial services are planned for later this spring. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Rich Weatherly with Hospice of Montezuma, PO Box 740, Cortez, Colo. 81321.
