RHEBA KAYE FLAUGH Memorial services for Cortez resident, Rheba Kaye Flaugh will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 13 at the Lifeway Baptist Church in Cortez. Pastor Jimmy Kennedy will be officiating. Rheba was born on May 19, 1950 in Sydney, Neb. the daughter of Earl Robert and Lucille Irene (Christofferson) Nelson. She passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2005 at the Vista Grande Nursing Home at the age of 55. In 1968, Rheba graduated from high school in Blanding, Utah. She then married Garth Davies and with this union two daughters, Julie and Rachell were born. Mr. Davies and Rheba were later divorced. In 1991, she married Don Flaugh. She loved his three children like they were her own. She was an active member of the Lifeway Baptist Church. It was very important to Rheba to help those in need. She greatly enjoyed feeding people, whether it is family members or the students of the Open High that participated in the Power Lunch Program. In her free time, Rheba could be found fishing, completing a needlepoint project or watching the Food Network. Surviving Rheba are her husband, Don Flaugh of Cortez; her children, Julie Long and companion, Don Pinder also of Cortez, Rachell Chavarie and husband, Chris of Grand Junction, Keegan Flaugh and wife, Melissa of Denver, Colo., Erin Davidson and husband, Rod of Florence, Colo., Shannon Thol and husband, Bart of Cambridge, Mass.; her grandchildren, Garth and Andy Scott, Ashley Long, Caleb, Colton, and Colby Chavarie, Daelyn, Aidan, and Caitlyn Flaugh, Hailee and Harley Davidson; her siblings, Boyd Nelson and wife, Dutchie of Bloomfield, N.M., Diana Nelson of Cortez, Danny Nelson and wife, Cheryl and Tammy Kennedy and husband, James all of Bloomfield, N.M., and Tommy Nelson and wife, Pam of Bluewater, N.M.; her extended family Brenda Henson and Marlene Romuar both of Cortez; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lifeway Baptist Church to be forwarded on to support the Open High Power Lunch.
