Rex Allen Thompson

Rex Allen Thompson of Pleasant View, CO. passed away February 2, 2025, at the age of 62. Rex was born on June 7,1962 to Wilbert Arlen and Patricia Ann (Drager) Thompson in Chamberlain, SD. 

Rex traveled a great deal during his life and experienced many cultures to include places like South Dakota, Nebraska, Alabama and even Germany for several years but, he always considered Colorado his real home. He loved the mountains and being outdoors and he was a diehard Denver Broncos fan, regardless of whether they were having a good season or not! In addition to sports, Rex enjoyed a good show or movie, and he could play a mean game of Scrabble or Yahtzee. He was proud of his Native American heritage and was an enrolled member of the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe. 

Surviving him is his stepfather, Burton Helmbolt of Pleasant View, CO.; his brother, Russell Thompson of Colorado Springs, CO; sister, Darlene Foley & husband, Paul, of Norman, OK; stepbrother, Burton Helmbolt Jr, of Tulalip, WA; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces. He also leaves behind several beloved, life-long friends whom he considered more as family than just friends. 

Rex was preceded in death by his father and mother, two sisters, Dianna Beth Young and Denise Thompson, and his older brother, Ward Thompson. 

Burial is planned for a later date.
