REUBEN "FARRELL" COX Reuben Farrell Cox, a long time resident of Cortez, Colo., passed away in his home during the early hours of August 6, 2015. His 70 years on this earth came to an end after a long battle with cancer. Farrell was born on October 24, 1944 in Cisne, Ill. His family moved to Cortez in 1955. He was the third of five children. Farrell graduated from Montezuma-Cortez High School in 1962. Farrell had three children with his first wife, Jane, whom he remained friends with right to the end. He married Betty McWilliams McClellan on October 11, 2003. He and Betty enjoyed their life together with spur of the moment getaways, camping, fishing, 4 wheeling, riding horses, and traveling whenever possible. He and Betty were the best of friends and truly enjoyed every minute of their time together. Farrell was preceded in death by his parents, Slim and Dolly Cox; and his sister-in-law, Bea Cox. He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Cox; his siblings, Darrell Cox, Bobbie Spore, Richard Cox, and Pattie Brown (Jim); his children, Michael Cox (Brenda), Sheila Owens, Keith Cox (Kathy), and Amber Carnes (Chris); his 23 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was a well loved and respected man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends. We can take comfort in knowing that he is no longer suffering from the pain that he had to endure. A memorial service will be held at Ertel Memorial Chapel on August 15 at 10 a.m. No graveside service will follow.
