RAYMOND RONALD "RON" HEATON Graveside services for longtime Cahone resident Raymond Ronald "Ron" Heaton will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 12 at Dove Creek Cemetery. Visitation has been scheduled for Friday morning from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Dove Creek Community Center. Ron was born October 2, 1940 in Redwood, Calif. the son of Raymond Reid and Edrie (Fowler) Heaton. He passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 in Dove Creek at the age of 70. Ron served his country in the United States Army from 1966 to 1970. Ron loved his country deeply and was extremely patriotic. During his service time he was a Captain and a Ranger. He spent many years working for the Cheyenne tribe in Montana as a financial advisor. In March of 1991, Ron met Kathryn Duval McWhite and for the past 21 years they have remained committed to each other. A talented musician, Ron played with the Bar D Wranglers and he loved any time spent making music. He held a seat on the Dove Creek Chamber of Commerce Board and Ron also had his own C.P.A. practice. Ron and Kathy owned Winter Hawk Bed and Breakfast in Dove Creek. Surviving Ron are his wife, Kathy McWhite of Dove Creek; his children, Kira Bowron and husband Dan of Lafayette, Colo., Christina Azua and husband, Mario of Denver, John Heaton of Denver, Lani Hall and husband, Charlie of Carlsbad, N.M., and Jessica McWhite and Paul Kapala of Blackhawk, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; and by his cousins, Al Heaton of Cortez, and Kim Luevano of Bernalillo, N.M. Ron was preceded in death by his parents; by his daughter, Lisa Montoya; and by two sisters. Memorial contributions may be made in Ron Heaton's name to Community Bank of Cortez or Dove Creek.
