RAYMOND DAVID MARTINEZ Funeral Mass for lifelong Mancos resident Raymond David Martinez will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 2 at the Old Mancos High School Gymnasium. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery. The Reverend Jospeh L. Gallegos, C.R. will officiate. A Rosary service has been scheduled for Thursday evening at 7 p.m. at St. Rita Catholic Church. Raymond was born on September 20, 1942 in McPhee, Colo., the son of Cesario Jose and Lela (Velasquez) Martinez. He passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at his residence surrounded by his loving family at the age of 64. Raymond graduated from Mancos High School in 1961. On October 12, 1963, he married Dolores Lobato at St. Rita Catholic Church in Mancos. Raymond loved the outdoors and time spent in the mountains. He enjoyed snowmobiling, four wheeling, hunting and fishing. Surviving Raymond are his wife of 43 years, Dolores Martinez of Mancos; his mother, Lela Martinez of Mancos; and his children, Raymond Martinez Jr. and Heather Leavitt of Mancos, Paul C. Martinez and Carla Tucker of Cortez, and Pamela Smith and husband, Randy of Mancos. He also leaves behind his siblings, Frances Maestas and husband, Ruben of Mancos, Rick Martinez and wife, Dianne of Bartlesville, Okla.; his six grandchildren, Erika, Stephanie, and Emilio Marquez, Garrett and C.J. Tucker, and Amy Smith; his brother-in-law, Nick Rivera and wife, Wesley of Mancos; and his very special friends, Tony Romero and Sally Martinez. Raymond was preceded in death by his father. Memorial contributions may be made in Raymond’s memory to Mancos Valley Bank.
