RAYMOND EUGENE CASSITY

A funeral service for Cortez resident Raymond Eugene Cassity will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 8, 2023 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Inurnment will follow at Cahone Cemetery. A potluck will be held after the inurnment at the American Legion, 320 N. Harrison St in Cortez at 1pm.

Raymond was born July 27, 1944 in Cortez, Colorado the son of Linville Raymond and Ruby (Ayers) Cassity. He passed away on Wednesday August 30, 2023 at St. Mary’s hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado at the age of 79.

Surviving Raymond are his brothers Troy Trone (Vicki) of Ignacio, CO and Paul Cassity; step-daughter Erin Cassity of Grand Junction, CO; nephews Jason Maez of Cortez, CO, Eddie Maez of MO, David Beattie of Cortez, CO; nieces Maria Maez of Cortez, CO, Leah Maez of Cortez, CO, Kerri Beattie of Cortez, CO and Heidi Beattie of Mancos, CO; and 17 great nieces and nephews.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Phillip Cassity and his sister, Marlene Carpenter.
