Randy Garbesi

Rand (Randy) Garbesi was born on December 8,1952 in Ohio. He is the son of Kenneth and Nancy Garbesi. He passed away on Sunday January 7,2024 at his home in Cortez, Colorado. He was 71 years old.

  Randy married Jeanne Harner on May 26,1984 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. They would have celebrated their 40th anniversary in May. Randy and Jeanne moved to Cortez, Colorado in 1986 in order for Randy to take a job with the Ute Mountain Tribe in Towaoc, Colorado. Randy worked as an accountant for the tribe for nearly 33 years. Randy loved his job. Randy’s only child, daughter, Jessie Renee Garbesi was born in March of 1990, she was the joy of his life. He spent many hours going to swim practices and swim meets in order to watch his daughter swim. Randy was a gentle, kind, and loving man who always put his wife and daughter first. Jeanne and Jessie agreed that he was the best man that they had ever known. Randy and Jessie are together again and are now off on another adventure like the many that they had shared here.

  Surviving Randy are his wife, Jeannie Garbesi of Cortez, Colorado; his sister, Kathie Roghair of Rocksprings, Wyoming; his nephews, Jason Roghair (Faby); and niece, Heather Hubert. Randy also had grand nephews and grand nieces.  Randy and Jeanne had no biological family near Cortez, several families had adopted them. These wonderful people treated them as if they were family. Randy was very grateful for them. Many of Randy’s daughter’s high school, college and swim team members were always there for him if he needed any help with anything. There were also two very special young people that brought such joy to his life, Ashley Morlan and Mariah Murphy. They were so wonderful to him.

  He was preceded in death by his parents; and his daughter, Jessie Garbesi.

  A celebration of life will be held this spring.
