Randall Lynn Wyatt

November 19, 1951 — May 30, 2013

RANDALL LYNN WYATT Randall Lynn Wyatt, 61, of Cahone, Colo., passed away on May 30, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. A celebration of Randy's life will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 5, at the Lewis-Arriola Community Center. Bishop Tim Lanier of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints will be officiating. Interment will follow at the Cortez Cemetery. Randy was born in Oxnard, Calif. on November 19, 1951, the fourth child of Leonard Owen Wyatt and Cathrena Maude (Rice) Wyatt. With several other families that would become lifelong friends, Leonard and Cathrena raised their growing family at Adohr Farms. It was there that a passion for farming and raising cattle would turn in to a lifelong career for the Wyatt family. Randy married the love of his life Katherine Rose Thomas on December 3, 1971 in Ventura, California. They were married 34 years until Kathy's battle with cancer also claimed her life much too young in 2006. The Wyatt brothers and their young families left Adohr Farms and purchased a ranch in Somis, Calif. The brothers alongside their father would grow various flower stock and avocados. Randy and his father also started Wyatt Landscaping which Randy and Kathy would manage until they moved their family to Colorado in 1988. The family settled in Cahone where they would grow alfalfa and raise cattle. Randy enjoyed playing and watching sports. Randy could often be found at local softball fields with his children in tow, "Sports Fans" as he referred to them, always hitting the ball well over the fence which earned him the nickname "Gunnar." He was a lifelong fan of the Los Angeles Kings. Randy instilled a love of hockey in his four children through trips to the Fabulous Forum in Los Angeles and most recently a road trip to Phoenix in 2012 to watch the Kings play the Coyotes. This would transpire into the family sharing the end to the King's 45 year drought and the first Stanley Cup win for the franchise in 2013. Randy is survived by his four children, Tanya Lynn Wyatt of Cortez, Jason Randall (Joslyn) Wyatt of Durango, Justin Randall (Brianna) Wyatt of Cortez and Jarrod Randall (Colette) of Cortez, Colo. He was blessed with ten grandchildren, Savannah, Destry, Hailee, Aspen, Emery, Ethan, Aubree, Addyson, Kaiden and Kyler; and one great-granddaughter, Katie. He is also survived by his uncle Dale (Martha) Rice of Las Vegas, Nev.; brother, Leonard K. Wyatt (Phyllis) Kingman, Ariz.; sister, Linda Hunter of Pismo Beach Calif.; mother-in-law, Barbara Cofield of Port Hueneme; and a special bond with nephew, Bill Wyatt, Jr. of Kingman, Ariz. Randy also leaves behind loving sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, their spouses, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Cathrena Wyatt; his beloved wife Kathy; his brother, Bill Wyatt Sr.; and sister-in-law, Betty Wyatt. The Wyatt family would also like to express their gratitude to Hospice of Montezuma County for their kindness and compassion expressed to our father and family.
