Philip Melvin Belt

PHILIP MELVIN BELT Philip Melvin Belt was born December 12, 1931 in Cortez the son of Kenneth R. and Ruth (Runck) Belt. He passed away on Friday, June 26, 2015 at Southwest Memorial Hospital at the age of 83. On December 27, 1971 Philip married Doris Mary Hendersen. He was an Elder at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Cortez. During his working years, Philip held various positions. He managed the theatre in Mancos and was a typesetter for the Cortez Journal. Philip owned Phil's T.V. Service and was the manager of the local Radio Shack for many years. In his free time, Philip enjoyed flying his own Cessna; later on he gained a lot of satisfaction building and flying radio controlled model airplanes. Surviving Philip are his children, Phyllis A. Ferdinando and husband, Gary of Cortez, Kevin L. Belt and wife, Gloria of Lincoln, Neb. and Francine Parker of Edgemont, S.D.; his siblings, Sherry Awdish and husband, Dave of Dolores, Barbara Palmer of Louisville, Tenn., and Ramona Burnett and husband, Jack of Ronan, Mont.; and by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Philip was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth R. Belt and Ruth (Runck) Belt Smoot; by his wife, Doris (Hendersen) Belt; by his daughter, Penny Piersall; and by his sister, Doris McLain. Cremation has taken place and private family services will be held at a later date.
