PEGGY JO RUTHERFORD A celebration of life for Peggy Jo Rutherford will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 7 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Peggy Jo Rutherford was born in Lewis, Colo. to Roxie Elizabeth and William Griffith Rutherford on May 26, 1927. She passed away on Friday, November 22, 2013 in Fort Lupton, Colo. at the age of 86. Jo attended Cortez High School, Durango High School, and Western State College. She was truly a lifelong learner and surrounded herself with literature and art throughout her life. Jo spent her life helping others and being a devout Catholic. Her greatest joy was loving her family and friends. Surviving Jo are her daughters, Michele Handschuh and her children, David (Megan Ross) and Caite of Chicago, Ill., Cecile Pierce of Fort Lupton and her daughter, Emily of Edina, Minn., Camille Kauffeld (Michael) of Greenwood, Ind. and their children, Harrison and Caroline; her sons, Mark Chiono (Kathy) of Grand Junction and their daughter, Chelsea of Montrose, Matt Chiono of Windsor, and Tony Chiono (Liz) of Fruita and their sons, Logan and Avery of Fruita and Griff of Grand Junction; and her great-grandson, Malone of Chicago. Jo also leaves behind her twin sister, Jean Martin and Dixie Sturman of Cortez. Jo was preceded in death by her parents, Griff and Roxie Rutherford; her sister, Betty Duncan; and her brothers, Russell and Bob Rutherford; her daughter, Aleece Chiono; her son, Timothy Chiono; her son-in-law, Richard Handschuh; and her grandson, Dylan Chiono. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jo's name can be made to Saint Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Cortez, Colo.
