Paul Dean

PAUL DEAN Paul was born in Quemado, N.M. on May 1, 1937. He passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at his Cortez residence. Paul grew up on many homesteads throughout the west. He was the third child and second son born to Walker Elmer Dean and Marganie Mae (Calder). Paul was a gentle soul who will forever be in our hearts. With his wisdom, Paul taught his children and those around him the true meaning of love. With his words he taught us all to be strong yet be forgiving but most of all he taught us to be us, and to love with everything and give with your all. He was an amazing man an even better dad and will be missed by so many. Paul was an avid book reader, hunter, fisherman, camper and loved riding his four wheeler up in the mountains. Paul would have loved nothing better than to have lived up in the mountains full time. Later in life one of his favorite past times would be when his grandsons would call him up and tell him to load up the four wheeler and come help them get their last kill off the side of the mountain. Paul instilled in his children and grandchildren his love for the mountains. Paul was married to his wife Jeanette (Dunn) for 56 years. They had four children, Debra Baker (Doug), Sharon Higgins (Jimmy), Daniel Dean (Yvonne), Paula Sender (Reuben); 16 grandchildren, Paul, Gary, Bill, Brandi, Kiffany, Tina (Jesse), Ashton (Jeremy), Steven, Amanda, Shiria Mae, Jakob (Kyleigh), Brendon (Bethann), Jason, Jamie, Gunner, Hunter; seven great-grandchildren, Jakob, Juni, Jaxon, Jazmyn, Cannon, Annabelle and Jurnee; and two great- grandbabies still in the oven. Paul is survived by his wife, Jeanette of the family home in Cortez; his daughters, Sharon Higgins of Cortez and Paula Sender of Overbrook, Kan.; his son Danny of El Paso, Tex.; his adopted grown children, Kim and Jay Morgan of Apache Junction, Ariz.; and all the other adopted children that called him Dad; along with many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Mae Dean; his brothers, Ed Fox, Elmer Jr. Dean, Gerry Dean; his sister, Cleola Goff; his granddaughters, Shiria Mae Morris and Kiffany Michelle Dean; his grandsons, Paul Lee Baker and Cannon J. Gower; and the recent passing of his oldest daughter, Debbie Baker.
