Paul Arthur Pedersen

Memorial services for longtime Cortez resident Paul "Pete" Arthur Pedersen will be held at 2 pm on Friday, December 2, 2011 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Pete was born on September 9, 1925 in Malta, Mont. to Peter Morris and Inger (Jensen) Pedersen. He passed away on November 30, 2011 at the Vista Grande Inn at the age of 86. On September 12, 1947 Pete married Maxine Laruth Thomas in Farmington, N.M. Pete worked 45 years with Texaco Oil Company. In his spare time, Pete enjoyed golfing, bowling, square dancing, and coaching high school baseball. He also loved to play bridge and pinochle. Surviving Pete are his wife, Maxine Pedersen of Cortez; his children, Judy Winters and husband, Harold of Senora, Calif., and Paul Lester Pedersen and wife, Diane of Fruita, Colo.; his grandchildren, James Winters and wife, Darelyn of Senora, Cali., Melissa Jarvis of Senora, Cali., and Bryce Pedersen and wife, Diane of Payson, Utah; his twelve great grandchildren; and his sister, Pearl Swank of Poplar, Mont. Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Inger Pedersen; and his siblings, Emil Pedersen, Rosa Seppela, and Christiansen Pedersen.
