PATRICIA JEAN HART LUDEMAN Funeral services for longtime Cortez resident, Patricia Jean Hart Ludeman will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 26 at the Cortez First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at the Cortez Cemetery. Reverend Lynn Evans will be officiating. Patsi was born on April 22, 1941 in Gunnison, Colo. the daughter of Edward A. and Nellie C. (Miller) Short. She passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at the Southwest Memorial Hospital at the age of 63. Patsi was a prominent woman of this community. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the State and National Level, Girls State, Cortez Emblem Club, Republican Women, Central Committee for Republicans, Red Hat Society, President of the Ladies Golf Association, President of the N.W. Division of Ladies Auxiliary, and was a local business owner in Cortez for many years. Patsi owned Hart’s Specialty Shop, as well as Patsi Hart’s Tax Office. Patsi had been doing taxes for 30 years. During her private pastime Patsi was known for being a wonderful baker, she made excellent Lemon Meringue Pie. She made her Lemon pie and Coconut pie’s for the Elks’ BINGO every Thursday night. Surviving Patsi are her husband, Joe Ludeman of Cortez; her twin sisters, JoAn Fortney and June Lehe both of Grand Junction; her brother and two sisters, James Short and wife, Cheryl of League City, Tex., Alice and husband, Felton of Magnolia, Tex., and Donna Heyman and husband Roscoe of Menard, Tex. Preceding her in death were her parents. Memorial contributions can be made in Patsi’s memory to the Fisher House in Denver, Colo. located at the old Fitz Simmons Military Base.
