Oscar P. Dressel

OSCAR P. DRESSEL Graveside services for lifelong Cortez resident Oscar P. Dressel will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, December 19 at Cortez Cemetery. Pastor Charles Story will officiate. Visitation has been scheduled for Friday afternoon from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Oscar was born on September 14, 1911 in Rico, Colo. the son of Paul Reinhardt and Maria (Schiebel) Dressel. He passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at Vista Grande Inn at the age of 97. Oscar enjoyed time spent outdoors, especially in the surrounding mountains. He was an observer for the United States Weather Service. Oscar loved to ranch and in his free time he liked woodworking. Surviving Oscar are his niece, Marie Rice Silva of Fruita, Colo.; his great-nieces, Cindy Freeman, Pam Mills, Loretta Catt, and Marlene Fender; and his great-nephew, Randy Thornton. Oscar was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lesley Dressel; his half-siblings, Richard Miller, Louie Miller, and Dora Miller; and his nephew, Louie Thornton. Memorial contributions may be made in Oscar's memory to the American Cancer Association.
