OPAL MARIE WRIGHT BLAKEY Memorial services for Dolores resident Opal Marie Wright Blakey will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 7 at the Church of Christ. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Summit Ridge Cemetery. Opal was born October 1, 1917 in Pottawatomie County, Okla. the daughter of Rueben Dexter and Dora May (Curnutt) Wright. She passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at her residence at the age of 94. Opal graduated from Seminole High School and went on to attend Arkansas City Kansas Junior College and Denver University. Opal was a resident of Albuquerque, N.M. for many years. She was an employee of Sandia National Laboratories having retired on November 6, 1984. Opal was active in the Albuquerque Garden Club where she served as president in 1988, 1989, and again in 1993. She was honored with a Life Membership in New Mexico Garden Clubs, Inc. Surviving Opal are her children, Mary Louise Wynes and husband, James Bruce of Dolores and Robert Wright Blakey and wife, Helen of Fort Worth, Tex.; her grandchildren, Deborah Jean Kassebaum Gotlieb, Sherrie Lynn Kassebaum Buike, Jennie Marie Wynes Ramos, Julie Ann Wynes Black, Lesa Ann Blakey, Lori Lynn Blakey Flynn, Jim Bob Wynes, Mark Steven Williams, Jerry Don Wynes, Kirk Matthew Williams, Johnny Lee Wynes, and Joey Dexter Wynes; and by numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Robert Walter Blakey; and by three brothers and one sister.
