Opal C. Phillips

OPAL C. PHILLIPS Funeral services for longtime Dolores resident, Opal C. Phillips will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at the Summit Ridge Cemetery. Opal was born on January 9, 1911 in Mena, Ark., the daughter of Lawrence Buell and Nellie (Long) Richmond. She passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2006 at her daughter’s home at the age of 95. Opal was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and attended church at the First Baptist Church in Dolores. She loved to sew and raise a hearty garden. Surviving Opal are her daughters, Rosalind N. Springer and husband, Rick of Stevensville, Mont., Roberta Ann Sturdevant of Moab, Ut., and Carol Sue McCall and husband, Paul of Cortez; 8 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Wayne Phillips; a son, James Michael Phillips; three brothers; and two sisters.
