OCTAVIANO CONRAD "TONY" GALLEGOS Funeral services for Farmington resident and former Dolores resident Octaviano Conrad "Tony" Gallegos will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 4 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Cortez Cemetery. Visitation has been scheduled for Thursday evening from 5 to 6 p.m. at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Rosary services will take place Thursday at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Tony was born on March 22, 1929 in Blanco, N.M. the son of Jose Guillermo and Filomena (Muniz) Gallegos. He passed away on Monday, February 28, 2011 at Cedar Ridge Inn in Farmington, N.M. at the age of 81. On February 20, 1953, Tony married Ethel E. Rodriguez in Durango, Colo. Tony was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church and he belonged to the Sheriff's Posse. Tony spent much of his life ranching and sheepherding. In his free time, Tony enjoyed fishing, and reading Louie L'Amour books. Surviving Tony are his children, Evelyn Maestas of Farmington, N.M., Leroy Joseph Maestas of Cortez, Elizabeth Borunda of Grand Junction, Colo., Rita Powell and husband, Robert of Farmington, N.M., Elaine Mosqueda of Grand Junction, Colo., Phyllis Ruiz and husband, Jose of Scott City, Kan., William Gallegos and wife, Leslie of Olathe, Colo., Ray Gallegos and wife, Estrella of Towaoc, and Dale Gallegos and wife, Belinda of Waterflow, N.M.; and 26 grandchildren. Tony also leaves behind his siblings, Marvine Lobato and husband, Pat of Aurora, Colo., Martha Maez and husband, Bob of Summit Ridge, Colo., Margaret Cordova and husband, Tommy of San Francisco, Calif., Mary Alice Gonzales of Mancos, Eva Horne and husband, Gary of Summit Ridge, Colo., and Linda Valencia and husband, Pete of Farmington, N.M.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and by his sisters-in-law, Pat Gallegos of Dolores and Emily Gallegos of Lewis. Tony was preceded in death by his parents; by his wife, Ethel Gallegos; by his siblings, Don Gallegos, William Gallegos, and Leova Brinkerhoff; by two infant siblings; and by his brothers-in-law, Joe Gonzales and Terry Brinkerhoff. Memorial contributions may be made in Tony's name to Citizens State Bank.
