NORMAN LEE MCCLELLAN Norman Lee McClellan passed away in Dolores, Colo. on Sunday, August 30, 2015 at the age of 85. Norman was born in rural Dolores to Io (Vance) and Morris Ray McClellan on June 16, 1930. Norman married Sylvia Carlson on August 9, 1957 at the Methodist Church in Dolores. They recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. Norman spent his entire childhood in Cortez with many good friends. He graduated from MCHS in 1949. After graduation, Norman and two lifelong friends, J.T. Green and R.D. Littlefield joined the Air Force. Norman spent most of his service time in French Morocco which he greatly enjoyed. After serving for 4 years, Norman rode his motorcycle from the east coast back home to Colorado. Upon returning to Cortez, Norman and his brother, Dean spent several years in the gravel business as McClellan Brothers Construction, and prospecting for uranium. Later, Norman worked for Superior Oil Company and Mobile Oil Company until he retired in 1989. He dearly loved hunting, camping, fishing, hiking, and riding his ATV. Norman is survived by his wife, Sylvia; daughter, Ginger McClellan-Swope (Kirk); sons, Casey McClellan and Kelly McClellan (Di.); his grandchildren, Tristen Black, Kelly, CJ, Carlie and Koby McClellan, and Seth Marquez (Lindy); and his great-grandson, Deacon Marquez. Norman was preceded in death by his parents; by his brother, Dean (Helen) in May of this year, and his brother, Max. At his request there will be no services. Rest in Peace Daddy.
