NORMA MAE HINDMARSH Funeral services for lifelong area resident Norma Mae Hindmarsh will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 10 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at the Cortez Cemetery. Reverend Lynn Evans will officiate. A visitation has been scheduled for Tuesday afternoon from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Ertel Chapel. Norma was born on May 2, 1921 in Dolores, the daughter of William A. and Mary Ann (McClure) Olson. She passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2007 at the Valley Inn Nursing Home at the age of 85. Norma attended and went on to graduate from Cortez High School in 1940. She married Russell Emil Hindmarsh in Aztec, N.M. on December 10, 1941. The couple shared 50 years of marriage before Russell’s death in 1992. Norma attended the United Methodist Church. She was a proud member of the Harmony Club, Lake Vista Grange, Order of the Eastern Star where she was a past Worthy Matron, and P.E.O. Chapter E.V. Norma gave much of her time to volunteer causes, she was a past County Chairman for the Red Cross fund raising drives, she served as a Girl Scout Leader between 1965 and 1966, and worked on numerous cancer drives. Norma also worked in Towaoc at the Ute Mountain voting station assisting with the voting process. Surviving Norma are her children, Gary Russell Hindmarsh and wife, LaRae of Dolores, and Carolyn Diane Kilgore of Livonia, Mich., her siblings, Bill Olson and wife, OnaLee, and Mary Haney; her grandsons, Jason R. Hindmarsh and wife, Laura Watts, Tyler Hindmarsh and wife Kristy, and Justen Lee Kilgore; her great-grandchildren, Emil Hindmarsh and Lily M. Kilgore; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Russell E. Hindmarsh.
