NORMA JOY MISENER Memorial services for longtime Cortez resident Norma Joy Misener will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 17 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Joy was born on August 14, 1926 in Edgemont, S.D. the daughter of R. Emmett and Lela (Cork) Driscoll. She passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at her residence at the age of 81. On October 17, 1977, Joy married John Phillip Misener in Durango. Joy devoted 20 years of her life teaching and as a librarian in the Dolores School District. She loved to sing with the Choraliers and Joy was a sorority sister of Beta Sigma Phi. In her spare time, Joy liked to ski, sing and write poetry. Surviving Joy are her husband, Phil Misener of Cortez; her children, Dana Brandt and wife, Julie of Livermore, Calif., Patrick Brandt of Cortez, Kevin Brandt of Durango, Russell Brandt of Phoenix, Ariz., Shelley Williams and husband, Skip of Glendale, Ariz., and Jeffery Misener and wife, Kathy of Bayfield, Colo.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers, Loren and Robert Driscoll.
