NELSON BILLIE

  Funeral services for Nelson Billie of Cortez, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 30, 2023 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Cortez Cemetery.

 Nelson was born September 26, 1944 in Cahone Mesa, UT, the son of Emma Nakai and Thomas Billie. He passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2023 in Cortez, at the age of 79.

 Surviving Nelson are his wife, Violet Billie of Cortez; children, Cheryl Baker (Gene)of Cortez, Arnold Billie (Patty) of Glendale, AZ, Dora Billie of Cortez, Diane Billie (Stan Benally) of Cortez, and Cherylene Billie (Antonio Miera) of Phoenix, AZ. Nelson is survived by his siblings, Betty Livingston (Leonard)of Albuquerque, NM, Lorraine George (Myron)of Kaiser, OR, Caroline Hoskie (Randy)of Sante Fe, NM, Evelyn Billie of Cortez, Norman Billie of Aneth, UT, Sarah Billy of Cortez, and Selena Billie of Brigham City, UT. Preceding Nelson in death are his siblings, Dennis Billie, Eugene Johnson, Rosella Burcher, Marie Phillips; his son Brian Billie and grandchild, O’Sheena Benally.
