NELLIE E. WILSON BRADFIELD Funeral services for lifelong area resident Nellie E. Wilson Bradfield will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 14 at the Lewis Arriola Community Center. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Nellie Wilson Bradfield, a warm and caring person to all of us, left us to join Adrian on Sept. 9, 2009. Nellie opened her home to many whenever needed. She loved to care for others and always wanted people in her house. Nellie was born on Sept. 1, 1925 at the family home in Yellow Jacket, CO, the eighth child of Charles and Nancy Wilson. She attended school at the Fairview school and helped on the family farm. It is a well known fact that the Wilson family loved their card games, reading good books and fishing. Nellie loved her gardens, both flowers and vegetable. She grew lovely flowers and enjoyed making flower arrangements for church. Nellie married Adrian Bradfield on June 21, 1947 in Aztec, NM. They moved to the Bradfield Ranch on the Dolores River at Cahone. To this union were born 6 children. They lived on the ranch until 1969, and then moved 1 mile north of Cahone. Nellie was active in her church, community clubs, 4-H, Farmers Union, Grange, school and politics for many years. She was on regional and state Health boards for years and was instrumental in the Dove Creek Health Clinic becoming a reality. She opened her home for months to provide housing to the Nurse Practioners for the clinic. Nellie also opened her home to foreign exchange students which was a great learning experience for the whole family. She is survived by 2 sisters, Marjorie Crowley, and Faye Bertrand both of Cortez, Colo.; four children, Charles Bradfield of Winslow, Ariz., Wilson (Charlotte) Bradfield of Yellow Jacket, Colo., Kenneth Bradfield of Cahone, Colo. and Nancy (Terry) Gilliland of Round Mountain, Nev.; 5 grandchildren, Natasha (Scott) Stidham of Lincoln, Neb., Amy Jo (Jim) Cornelius of Aztec, N.M., Patrick Gilliland of Reno, Nev., John Gilliland of Round Mountain, Nev. and Matthew Gilliland, currently serving in the Persian Gulf; and 1 great grandchild, Linda Ann Cornelius. Nellie was preceded in death by her life partner and husband, Adrian; her parents; her siblings, Dorothy Wood, Elsie Chaffin, Paul Wilson, Jim Wilson, Arthur (Runt) Wilson, Nancy Conrad, Glen Wilson, and Larry Wilson. Nellie is laid to rest beside Adrian in Fairview Cemetery. We will forever miss you! God Bless You!
