Neil Frank Jones, Sr.
1940 – 2021
Neil Frank Jones Sr. was born 15 October 1940 in a log cabin south of Dove Creek, CO to Cecil B. and Virgie Beatrice (Weese) Jones. He went to school in Dove Creek and graduated in 1958. After graduation he moved to Clovis, NM and farmed while attending E.N.M.U in Portales, NM. While living in New Mexico he met and married Claudean Hill. They moved to Colorado for a short time where their son, Neil F. Jones Jr. was born. They moved back to New Mexico where Neil eventually went to work for Southwestern Public Service Company and went to lineman school. He worked in Texas and New Mexico after becoming a journeyman until 1969 when he came back to Dove Creek to farm. He also worked for Empire Electric as service man for the Dove Creek area for several years.
He spent some winters going on mission trips to foreign countries with Servant’s International working on church projects with his brother-in-law, Buddy Bishop. While semi-retired, he worked on various projects.
After a short-term illness, Neil left for his heavenly home on 14 October 2021.
Leaving to mourn his passing is his wife, Claudean; his son, Neil F. Jones, Jr. (Machelle) of Dove Creek, CO; two granddaughters, Maranda of Grand Junction, CO, and Felicity of Grand Junction, CO; and one great grandson, Ryder Jones of Grand Junction, CO; three sisters, Cecily Bishop of Delta, CO, Carolyn Osvirk of Denver, CO, and Sue Broderick of Dolores, CO; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents; one sister, Nancy Butt; and one brother, Garnett Dunagan.
