NAVERNE MILLICENT TRIPP Service: Saturday, August 22, 2015 11 a.m. (lunch to follow) Funeral services for Naverne Millicent Tripp will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 22 at the First United Methodist Church of Cortez, with lunch to follow. Naverne was born the daughter of William Millard and Myrtle Aileen Boyer on May 14, 1934 in Sonora, California. She passed away at Southwest Memorial Hospital on Monday, August 10, 2015 at the age of 81. Naverne and her loving husband Donald W. Tripp met and courted in Nevada and California, and were married September 17, 1963. The couple shared 52 years of love, partnership and laughter, and they have been an inspiration to all who know and love them. Naverne was a very talented artist, with a particular fondness for painting, knitting, crocheting and sewing. She also loved caring for animals, tending to her flowers, and helping others. She was a long-time volunteer for the First United Methodist Thrift Store, an active member of the local P.E.O. chapter, and sang in the choir at the Methodist Church for over 40 years. Naverne and Don have three grateful children and four fabulous grandchildren who miss her very much. Surviving Naverne are her husband Don Tripp of Cortez; daughter Kerry Tripp of Cortez; son Gregg and wife Rhonda of Dolores; son George and fianc Debbie Garner of Cortez and Aurora; granddaughter Kendra and husband Adam Perschino of Jacksonville, FL; grandson Brandon Tripp of Portland, OR; grandson Bryan Tripp of Denver, CO; granddaughter Andrea Tripp of Dolores; sister Nadine Prior of Carson City, NV; brother Lyle Boyer and wife Wiladean of Fallon, NV; and sister-in-law Kenna Boyer of Reno, NV; along with several nieces, nephews, and other wonderful extended family and friends. PEO is a philanthropic organization that raises money to further the education of girls and women by providing scholarships and other learning opportunities.
