NANCY SUE JACKSON Memorial services for Nancy Sue Jackson, 76 of Cortez, will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 7 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cortez. Nancy Sue Jackson passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Durango after a brief illness. She was born the daughter of Ruth and LeRoy Coffenberry on March 10, 1935 in North Terre Haute, Ind. On December 29, 1952 in Vincennes, Ind. Nancy married Richard M. Jackson. She and Richard recently celebrated 59 years of marriage. Nancy had retired from Yavapi Community College in Prescott, Ariz. The couple moved to the Cortez area 11 years ago. Nancy became a volunteer at the Cortez Cultural Center and was a member of Harmony Club, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and Trinity Lutheran Church. She loved riding motorcycles with her husband and traveling worldwide. In her time at home she enjoyed quilting and gardening. Nancy was extremely proud of her grandchildren and great grandchild and loved them deeply. Nancy leaves behind her husband, Richard "Dick" Jackson of Cortez; daughter, Sally Day and husband, Michael of Prescott, Ariz.; son, Richard Jay Jackson and wife, Annette of Cortez; sister, Mary Ann Heck of Lebanon, Ind.; her grandchildren, Michele, Ben and Ryan; and great grandson, Robert "RJ". Memorial contributions may be made to the Arizona Juvenile Diabetes Association, 4343 E. Camelback Road Ste. 230, Phoenix, AZ 85018.
