MYRTLE MAE PENDLEY Funeral services for longtime Cortez resident, Myrtle Mae Pendley will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, July 9 at Ertel Memorial Chapel with interment following at Cortez Cemetery. Myrtle was born September 26, 1916 in Pagosa Springs, Colo. the daughter of C.B. and Clara Fern (Rank) Tackett Berry. She passed away at Vista Grande Inn on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at the age of 93. On December 14, 1937 Myrtle married Neal Washington Pendley in Aztec, N.M. The couple shared 70 years of marriage before Neal's death in 2008. Myrtle farmed side by side with Neal for many years. She enjoyed, most, her time spent painting. She also enjoyed gardening and attending Harmony Club and Senior Citizens Art Club. Surviving Myrtle are her son, Jeff Pendley of Mesquite, Nev.; two grandchildren, John and Debbie Durbin of Cortez; two great grandchildren, Briggs and Bryce Durbin of Cortez; siblings, Gladys Watkins of Cortez, Della Fern Wright and husband, Rigby of Monticello, Utah, and Richard Berry and wife, Ruth of Cortez; and by her sister-in-law, Jo Berry of Corrales, N.M. Preceding Myrtle in death were her parents; her husband, Neal Pendley; daughter, Marie Pendley; daughter-in-law, Andrea Pendley; and siblings, Clyde, Fritz and Harry Tackett, Stella Allen, and Robert Berry and Dorthy Berry.
