Myrtle Helen Lowe was born in her Grandma Bosley's half-basement at Edler, CO on January 24, 1928 to John E and Marguerite Lowe. She went home to be with her Lord on December 27, 2015 at Vista Grande Nursing Home at the age of 87. Her older sister Margie helped raised Myrtle & her brother John after Marguerite died when Myrtle was 8. She attended Edler schools and graduated from Springfield High School. On June 1st, 1946 Myrtle married Kenneth Mason in a double ceremony with her sister Margie and Johnny Hicks in Raton, New Mexico. They returned to the family farm in Edler until Kenneth rented his own farm land then they moved west of Pritchett where Barbara, Jim and Blenda were born. In 1955 they moved to Springfield Colorado where Myrtle went to work for the Telephone Company as an operator. In 1957 they moved to Walsh, Colorado where Bonnie and Keith were added to the family. Kenneth and Myrtle then moved to Guymon, Oklahoma where she worked in the banking industry. Kenneth died on August 29, 1974 at 49 years of age. Myrtle married Joe Sullivan on February 14, 1977. Joe died September 9th, 1980. Myrtle loved the Lord and her family and taught them all to love the Lord. She had quite a Children's Ministry both in her church and her home where she influenced a multitude of children. Her kids still hear testimonies from those people whose lives she impacted. She leaves to celebrate her passing into heaven: Her sister, Margie Hicks of Springfield, CO., her children; Barbara Smith and husband Virgil of Dove Creek CO, Jim Mason and wife Carolyn of Elk City, OK, Blenda Pierce and husband Bill of Ringling OK, Bonnie Leighton of Cortez, CO. and Keith Mason and his wife Nanette of Richardson, TX. She also leaves 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 2 great-great children, numerous friends and relatives. Myrtle is preceded by her husbands, Kenneth Mason and Joe Sullivan and a great grandson, Kenny Ray Smith. A Memorial service will be held in Springfield, CO in June with interment at the Springfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to either Madison House or Vista Grande in Cortez whose staff lovingly cared for her.
