Muriel Catherine "Sue" Mcneill

SUE McNEILL Funeral services for lifelong Cortez resident, Sue McNeill will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 15 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at the Cortez Cemetery. Visitation has been set for Monday afternoon at the Ertel Chapel from 4 to 6 p.m. Sue was born the daughter of James Addison and Elizabeth Ann (Scott) Wheeler on June 29, 1923 in Cortez. She passed away at Golden Years Retirement Home on Thursday, March 10, 2005. She was 81 years old. On December 4, 1944, Sue married Dave Monroe McNeill in Aztec, N.M. The couple resided in Cortez operating Wheeler’s Market located at the corner of Beech and Main Street. Sue operated her own beauty shop for a number of years. Sue loved playing cards and enjoyed going to the casino. She also enjoyed time spent knitting. Surviving Sue are her daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Don Tozer of Cortez; and her grandchildren, Heather Tozer and Hardy Tozer both of Cortez. Her sister and brother-in-law, Laura and Bill Stroud also survive Sue. Preceding Sue in death were her husband of 38 years, Dave McNeill in 1983; her two sisters, Helen Blackmer and Elizabeth “Punky” Williamson; and her brother, James Wheeler.
