Moya Faye Gray, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at the age of 83. Moya was born on March 26, 1938 in Cortez, Colorado to Hugh and Mary Lee Rausher. She eloped with John A. Gray on October 5, 1955 in Aztec, NM and enjoyed 67 years of marriage with the love of her life.
Moya was the most loving person to her husband, children, siblings, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and everyone she met. She loved the outdoors and spent many of her days playing golf. In fact, she scored a “hole in one” two different times and won several tournaments. She was famous for her rolls and her iced tea that everyone enjoyed. She was kind enough to share those recipes with her son Jimmy, though they never taste quite the same. She was also a cancer survivor. She was the office manager for Gamble’s Ace Hardware for 15 years. Moya loved Jesus and she loved worshiping Him through singing. She was a member of Christian Women’s club and she sang with her sister Mozelle Schafer and best friends Bettie Miller and Rita O’Brien in the “New Life Quartet” for over 45 years. Three of the four women in that quartet are singing together now in heaven. In the evenings, Moya, for many years, loved to sit in her hot tub with John and look at stars together. She never missed a sunset and she made sure everyone that was with her saw it. She experienced her final sunset here on earth and then saw her first sunrise in heaven. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A celebration of life will be held at First Baptist Church on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. Moya is survived by her husband, John; her son Jimmy Gray of Dallas, TX; her grandchildren, Master Sergeant Kristina Gray of the US Army of Tacoma, WA, Rachel Moreno of Aztec, NM, Sydney Gray, Jayden Gray and Silas Gray of Los Angeles, CA; her great-grandchildren, Lilian Lynette and Carlos Jeter, of Aztec, NM; her brother Loren Rausher; her sisters-in-law Judy Rausher, Nancy Blackman; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Moya is preceded in death by her parents Hugh and Mary Lee Rausher; her father and mother-in-law, Benjamin Hamilton Gray and Virginia Grantham (Mimi); sister Rita Mozelle Schafer; son Donald Samuel Gray; and bubba.
