MILDRED ODELL SPENCER Funeral services for Mancos resident, Mildred Odell Spencer will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 30 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Pastor David Ramsey will be officiating. Mildred was born on September 30, 1911 in Archibald, La. the daughter of George and Ethel (Tomlinson) Clampitt. She passed away on Friday, March 25, 2005 at the Valley Inn Nursing Home at the age of 93. At the age of 21, on January 29, 1933 in Mancos, Mildred wed Mr. Olen Amos Spencer. Mildred spent her life as a dedicated homemaker to her husband and four children. She was a member of the Southwest Cowbelles, and Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed gardening; her flower of choice was the Gladiola. Surviving Mildred are her children, Glen Spencer and wife, Eva of Bloomfield, N.M., and Alice Riggins and husband, Cal of Idaho. She leaves eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren behind as well. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Olen Amos Spencer; her son, James Spencer; her daughter, Carolyn Johnston; and one brother.
