Meda E. Pierce

MEDA E. PIERCE Graveside services for Cortez resident Meda E. Pierce will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 14 at Greenmount Cemetery in Durango. Visitation has been scheduled for Tuesday afternoon from 4 to 7 p.m. at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Meda was born on January 29, 1917 in Gering, Neb. the daughter of Evan I. and Ethel Mae (Lackey) Jones. She passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at Vista Grande Inn at the age of 93. Meda was a devoted member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Durango. She also spent a great amount of time at the Cortez Senior Center. A lover of animals, Meda always had a dog in her home. She enjoyed crocheting and Meda was a wonderful aunt to all of her nieces and nephews. Surviving Meda are her siblings, Bobby Jones and wife, Eva Mary of Cortez, Helen Hays and husband, Bill of Cortez, and Billy Jones of Temecula, Calif.; and by her sister-in-law, Betsy Jones of Cortez. Meda was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Calvin Pierce; by her brother, Frederick Jones; and by an infant brother.
