MC TURNER Funeral services for longtime Cortez resident and former Dove Creek resident, MC Turner will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, December 8 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Dove Creek Cemetery. Visitation has been set for Wednesday evening from 4 to 6 p.m. at Ertel Chapel. MC was born the son of Louis Badger and Oca Bell (Banks) Turner on June 4, 1919 at Wilcox, Ariz. He passed away at Vista Grande Nursing Home on Monday, December 5, 2005 at the age of 86. MC married Etta Mae Poff on December 13, 1938 in Grand Junction, Colo. The couple was just days away from celebrating their 67th wedding anniversary. Surviving MC are his beloved wife, Etta Mae Turner of Cortez; his children, Melvin Curtis Turner and wife, Judy of Victorville, Calif., Virginia Turner Daniels of Cortez, Joyce Edna Turner of Cortez, and Marilyn Fern Turner Heil and husband, Kenneth of Farmington, N.M.; nine grandchildren, Lanna Sheldon and husband, Mike, Michael Heil and wife, Jessica, Glenda Jones, Lisa Sostak and husband, Bruce, Karla Knuckles and husband, Scott, Chad Daniels, Kelly Turner and wife, Bethany, Ryan Turner and wife, Tammy, and Mark Heil; nine great grandchildren, BryAnne Goddard and husband, Jeremiah, Shelbie Knuckles, Sage Heil, Danielle Turner, Melony Pond, Peyton Turner, Aerial Jones, Ethan Turner, and Nathan Heil; and one great great grandchild, Destinee Goddard. MC was preceded in death by his brother, Joe Turner; sister, Iva Bell Turner Henson; and a grandson, Matt Heil. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of MC with the Alzheimer's Association, SW CO Region of Rocky Mountain Chapter Durango, CO 81301.
