MAX JOSEPH MONTOYA, JR. Funeral services for Dolores resident, Max Joseph Montoya, Jr. will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 16 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Father Derrek D. Scott will officiate. Interment will follow at the Summit Ridge Cemetery. Rosary services will be held Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Max was born on March 21, 1984 in Cortez, the son of Max Joseph Montoya Sr. and Sherry Lynn (Herrera) Montoya. He passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2005 in Dolores at the age of 21. A 2002 graduate of Dolores High School, Max loved to wrestle, hunt, fish and go four wheeling. Surviving him are his wife, Jenna R. Turner of Dolores; his parents, Max Montoya Sr. and Sherry Montoya of Dolores; grandparents, Burt and Julia Pena and Louis and Helen Edwards of Dolores; sister, Amanda M. Alcon and husband, Adam of Cortez; brother, Matthew L. Montoya of Dolores; and two nieces, Alyssa and Aubree Alcon of Cortez. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Max Montoya Jr. with the Dolores State Bank.
