MAUDE KINGSLEY WASHINGTON Funeral Mass for lifelong Towaoc resident Maude Kingsley Washington will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 10 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Cortez Cemetery. Rev. Joseph L. Gallegos C.R. will officiate. A Rosary service has been scheduled for Friday evening at 7 p.m. at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Maude was born on July 27, 1931 in Towaoc, the daughter of Walter Poore and Jessie (Kingsley) Washington. She passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at the Valley Inn Nursing Home at the age of 75. Maude enjoyed time spent in her garden. She loved to do beadwork and read. Maude was especially happy when she got to spend time with her friends and family. Surviving Maude are her daughters, Sandra Ortiz of Las Vegas, Nev., and Michela Americanhorse of Towaoc; her siblings, Shirley Esparza and Stafford Washington, both of Ignacio, Colo.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her children, Victor, Calvin, Duane, and Wade Smith Watts, Alfred Alire, and Baby Alire; three brothers; and four sisters.
