MARY SHAKESPEARE STEVENS Graveside inurnment services for lifelong Cortez resident Mary Shakespeare Stevens will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 10 at Cortez Cemetery. Reverend Al Strauss will officiate. Mary was born on May 18, 1928 in Monte Vista, Colo. the daughter of Donald D. and Verna (Mueller) Shakespeare. She passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2008 at Southwest Memorial Hospital at the age of 80. Mary was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved to quilt and play Bridge and Pitch. Mary was wed to the love of her life, Ernest R. Stevens for 40 years. Surviving Mary are her daughter, Lisa L. Woolery and husband, Preston of Dolores; her grandson, Tyler Ryan Woolery of Dolores; her sister, Martha Walker of Lakewood, Colo.; and her nieces and nephews, Karen Warner and husband, Doug of Parker, Colo., Suzzane Graff and husband, Jack of Delta, Colo., Don Walker and wife, Joy of Keenesberg, Colo., and David Walker and wife, Michelle of Palisade, Colo. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernest; her son, Richard S. Stevens; her brother, Stanley Shakespeare; and her brother-in-law, Ray Walker. Memorial contributions may be made in Mary's name to the American Heart Association.
