MARY RUTH JORDAN Ruth Jordan passed away peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009 at her home in Cortez, surrounded by her loving family. She was 72 years old. Ruth was born on Dec. 10, 1936 in Summit Ridge, Colo., the daughter of Pacomio and Rebecca (Romero) Archibeque. She attended school in Mancos graduating in 1958. Ruth married Don Jordan on October 23, 1959 in Cortez. Marriage to Don included his four children, Karen, Mike, Cindi and Mary, giving her a large and busy ready-made family. Their son, Patrick, was born October 2, 1960. Ruth was a hard-working business woman. She owned and operated Ruthie's Liquors in Mancos for many years. She loved the quiet of the mountains and fishing. Ruth's beautiful flower gardens graced her home and when she took up drawing and painting, she found she had a talent for putting her ideas on canvas. Ruth was an avid crafter; crocheting and knitting. She was awarded the Champion purple ribbon this year at the County Fair for her knitted afghan. Ruth's family and many friends will cherish her hand-made gifts which were made with love. Ruth is survived by Don Jordan of Mancos; her children, Karen (Mike) Welch of Cortez, Mike (Brandy) Jordan of Aztec, NM, Cindi (Rick) Kissel of Globe, AZ, Mary (Al Miller) Jordan of Colorado Springs, CO, Pat (Theresa) Jordan of Peyton, CO; her grandson, Josh (Tiffany) Alexander of Cortez, her siblings, Toni (Victor) Brown of Nucla, CO, Gilberto (Alice) Archibeque of Agate, CO, Sophie Stevenson of Cortez, Madeline Brown of Grand Junction, CO., Enoch (Nancy) Archibeque of Roy, UT, Frances Clark Cache Creek, B.C., Canada, Pat (Linda) Archibeque of Salt Lake City, UT, Rebecca Likes of Fayetteville, LA; 14 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; one great- great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Ruth in death are her parents; three brothers, George Archibeque, Victor Archibeque, Elias Archibeque; her daughter, Terry Jordan Earls; and her grandson, John Michael Barrett. Honoring Ruth's request, cremation has taken place and a private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
