MARY LOIS DAVES Memorial services for lifelong area resident Mary Lois Daves will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 14 at the Cortez Church of Christ. Mr. Rob Hall will officiate. Mary was born in Summer, Texas on February 29, 1924 the daughter of Royal D. and Eliza Jane (Henson) Finley. She passed away at Vista Grande Inn on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at the age of 88. On November 1, 1940 Mary Lois Finley married Grover Reed Pierce Daves in Monticello, Utah. They shared 53 years of marriage before Grover's death in 1993. Mary kept her hands busy quilting and crocheting as well as gardening and tending her flowers. Mary most especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Surviving Mary are her children, Larry Daves and wife, Suvian of Lewis, Colo., Dan Daves and wife, Brenda of Yellow Jacket, Colo., and Patsy Whitaker and husband, Jeff of Lubbock, Texas; by eight grandchildren, Travis Daves, Teresa Nash, Stacy Leonard, Destry Daves, Stephanie Urano, Kimberly Daves, Todd Whitaker, and Tanya Singleton; by 17 great grandchildren; by her sister, Myrtle Axtell of Grand Junction, Colo.; and by numerous friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Grover Daves; and her siblings, Buck Finley, Jack Finley, Roy Finley, Dorothy Browning, Nedra Wilmarth, Eugene Finley, Betty Pritchett, and Melba Knight. Mary Daves' family wishes to mention a special "thank you" to the nurses at Vista Grande Inn for the wonderful care they gave while Mary was with them. Memorial contributions can be made in Mary Daves' name with Vista Grande Inn.
